An independent board that sets policy, and a management team responsible for running the cadet programme day to day.
Expected to be a marine engineer, able to visit and monitor cadets' progress during sea time.
Management staff serve on a part-time basis. Remuneration for trustees and management is determined by the Board of Trustees.
Because sea time takes cadets aboard vessels for 12–15 months, the Board deliberately structured the Manager role to be filled by a qualified marine engineer — someone equipped to travel to vessels, assess a cadet's progress in person, and liaise directly with the shipping company's officers.
The Board's oversight only matters once a cadet is placed — that placement depends on our shipping company partners.
